THE Panda Series: Who? Me?

Judges6:7-16   Romans 8:17-18

Po is the protagonist of the movie- The Kungfu Panda. If you’ve not seen that animation, please do, right after you read this piece. Po is a really fat Panda who’s only vice is eating and also idolizing the Famous Five- the warrior band of the city. Po spends so much time keeping tabs on the Famous Five and collecting every souvenir of them that he can find. His obsession with this warrior band gets to the point that he dreams of them and imagines that he joins their mission to save the world. This dream however, Po knows is bound to remain one- a dream. T his is because he is neither in any shape nor size to become a kungfu master. He also doesn’t have the kind of background or opportunity to belong to this select group as he is just the son of the village noodles expert. Po finds himself dissatisfied with the kind of life that nature and environment presents him, somehow, he just cannot fit in. To cut short the story, Po steps into the right place at the right time (and after numerous tries too) and he steps right into purpose.  When asked if he is ready to receive the honour of having his wildest imagination coming to pass, he asks: Who? Me?

The situation of Po represents the circumstances that most of us find ourselves in. There is also a man in the scriptures who happens to have the same passion as we do- Judges 6:7-16. After God revealed his purpose to Gideon, his response was “Who? Me? C’mon God? Who would even listen to me anyway? You know my family is the poorest in the entire country and you want me to be the sent one? You’re such a joker!”

What we need to understand is that the dream and purpose on the inside must always be antithetical to our reality. The Bible says that He uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. God would not use a man the size of Goliath to kill Goliath for His glory; He’d rather use a David. God does not choose His anointed by looking at the outside (1 Sam 16:7). God looks inside at the deposit of power He has put in you. That’s the same thing that He wants you to do. Look inside!

The Pastor, while preaching said: “What is on the outside is a metamorphosis but what is on the inside is concluded. It is what is on the inside that confers greatness”. This means that “the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” have been placed on the inside of you. Nothing changes; it only awaits your enlightenment so that it may be discovered. Once discovered, it begins to shape the you on the outside. It becomes the pattern that you follow; it becomes the mirror that shows you what you should look like; it directs you so that you begin to change.
God has given us the power to conceive and to imagine. Job 32:8 says “But there is a spirit in man and the inspiration of the Almighty gives him understanding”. When you tap into this power of imagination, you tap into the power of creation. The Bible says in Eph 3:20 says “Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask, think or imagine according to the power that works in us”. God has given you a blank check to create things in your imagination because He is able to do things that even you cannot imagine.
When you create in your mind, you must inevitably create in the physical. “Call forth those things that be not as though they were”. Your imagination must be converted into something tangible in the physical. As said above, your imagination gets you to have direction. In other words, you get to be the doer of the Word. There is a realm of blessing that is based on your imagination which is the possession God is talking about.
“Antithetical qualities of greatness are a signal that greatness lies within”- ‘Bowale Abrahams. Don’t be deceived if like Po, you don’t look like your dream right now. It only means that you can look like it. So tiddy up and get to work. God gave you the dream, He is responsible for bringing it to fulfillment but He needs a vessel, you. Remember, if you can think it, He can do it. Yes, You!
